Barangay Community Garden Lunch & Learn Workshop Series

About the Series

Join us for our Barangay Community Garden Lunch & Learn Workshop Series — a relaxed, practical midday learning hour rooted in the real work happening in the garden.

Bring your lunch, grab a seat, and learn alongside neighbors. You’re also welcome to enjoy some of our light snacks and share food together while we talk through the day’s topic.

We plan to offer a virtual participation option when possible. However, because many sessions are hands-on and weather-dependent, online access may vary week to week. We’ll post updates if a session will include a live virtual component.

Topics We’ll Cover

Over the course of the series, we plan to explore:

From Plan to Ground: Marking Layouts & Dimensions
Translating drawings into physical space using stakes, string lines, and measurement techniques.

Site Assessment: Drainage, Grade & Access
Understanding slope, water flow, and circulation before building or planting.

Spring Bed Repair & Soil Rebuilding
Diagnosing failing beds and restoring soil health.

Tool Safety, Storage & Shared Infrastructure
Working safely in shared garden spaces and extending tool longevity.

Compost Systems & Soil Management
Managing organic matter, compost integration, and soil health strategies.

Breaking Down Unsafe Infrastructure: Bed Disassembly
Safe deconstruction techniques and material salvage.

Raised Bed Assembly Techniques
Structural considerations and building for longevity.
